It is extremely difficult to change a habit using only the conscious mind. Bearing in mind that the conscious mind is responsible for analysis, logic and reason and can only hold between 7 and 9 pieces of information at any one time. So even though you are focused and determined right now to change that habit something else comes into your mind and you lose focus and that glass of wine or the chocolate bar is already in your mouth.
